Handwoven soft toys
These toys are handmade from start to finish. The cotton yarn is hand dyed, using premium Swiss colourfast, non-toxic dyes. Then it is hand woven and fashioned into the various toys.
No time constraints are imposed on the weavers and needlewomen. The toys are handmade and no two are the same. These toys are a source of independance for the women who make them. Barefoot is not a charitable organization. Workers receive an honest wage and take pride in being able to support themselves and their children.

Recycled Tin Toys
Justin Ratsimazafy started making these tin toys in Madagascar six years ago. He now employs 6 artisans in creating classic cars, motorbikes, boats, buses and planes from recycled tin cans. He has invested the profits back into his community by buying rice fields and a pig-breeding farm.

Goodwill Dolls
The Tshwaranang-B Co-op, based in Soweto, South Africa consists of a group of grandmothers who are looking after children orphaned by Aids. The dolls are dressed in distinctive tribal dress and signed by the sewer. Money from the project enables the Co-op to buy more equipment such as sewing machines and helps the women to become more self sufficient.

Ndebele Dolls
Over 70 Ndebele women from very poor economic circumstances earn an independent income from this project. They live mostly in remote areas where there are very few job opportunities. Their social structure is patriarchal and females have a very limited status within the community. The Ndebele women producing this beadwork, work individually from their homes in KwaNdebele and so are able to care for their children and retain their traditional lifestyles.
