Elephant Paper
While we don’t think elephant dung is going to end wood chipping, it does remind us of the many alternative sources of fibre for paper as well as the plight of Sri Lankan elephants.
Profits from this paper go to the Maximus Elephant Foundation who provide a home for elderly elephants. By paying locals to collect elephant dung, the Foundation also helps reduce conflict between elephants and their human neighbours.
Incidentally, the dung is boiled thoroughly as part of the papermaking process so it’s odour and bacteria free.
