Aboriginal Designed Cushions and Lacquer Boxes

Aboriginal designed cushions are embroidered in Kashmir and produced through a cross cultural and economic exchange program between the Anangu Pitjanjajara Yankunytjajara Lands in Central Australia and Kashmir. We have many designs and colours.
The designs on the lacquer boxes are are taken from original paintings with the aboriginal artist's name on each box.

Mud Australia Plates and Cups

Mud Australia is a small porcelain manufacturer based in Sydney, Australia. They strongly believe in the global values of craft, community and sustainability. Each piece is handmade using fine porcelain. Over time the vitrified stone like surface becomes smooth and polished like a pebble. Mud is oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. You can enjoy Mud ceramics in the Grok Cafe over coffee and lunch.

Telephone Wire Baskets

Baskets made from recycled telephone wire in a range of colours, designs and sizes from South Africa.
This project was established in regions of the Kalahari, in a subsistence farming area where unemployment is at 80%. It creates flexible employment allowing for the continution of a traditional way of life and care of children. The older boys are able to fund their own education, and a community creche and food scheme have been funded by the project.

Glass

Sibusiso Mhlanga was a backyard mechanic in Swaziland who had the opportunity to learn to blow glass in Sweden through an Aid project.

He has since gone on to train the entire workforce of over 60 people at Ngwenya Glass in the Kingdom of Swaziland.

Today 100% of the glass used is recycled, much of it from soft drink bottles collected from all over Swaziland.

Ngwenya Glass works with the local community to instil a sense of environmental awareness, and assists in the construction of schools and other community projects.

Ndebele Dolls

Over 70 Ndebele women from very poor economic circumstances earn an independent income from this project. They live mostly in remote areas with few job opportunities. Their social structure is patriarchal and females have a very limited status within the community. The Ndebele women producing this beadwork, work individually from their homes in KwaNdebele and are able to care for their children and retain their traditional lifestyles.
